File Naming Conventions

02-EXO-005-007

  • 02 - The book number in the Bible. Always two digits.
  • EXO - The first three characters of the book name (except as noted in the table below).
  • 005 - The chapter where the message starts. Always three digits.
  • 007 - The verse where the message starts. Always three digits.

Please Note: If two messages start in the same chapter and verse, append an a to the first, a b, and so on.

Example: 02-EXO-008-001a and 02-EXO-008-001b

The original .wav file us usually save with the -orig at the end of the file name (before the file extension!)

Example: 02-EXO-008-001-orig.wav.

The 16Kbps MP3 file has -16 appended to the end of the file name (also before the extension). The 64Kbps MP3 file name is not changed.

Example: 02-EXO-005-007-16.mp3 for the 16Kbps MP3 file and 02-EXO-005-007.mp3 for the 64Kbps MP3 file.

All files from the same series are put into a folder that tell what year the pastor started the book.

Example: 02-EXO-1999

Standard Folder Structure is:
library\salvato-rob\studies-books\02-EXO-1999; or library\salvato-rob\studies-topical\2001-mensretreat

Other formats are sometimes used before being converted to standard for Internet use. A record keeping the spreadsheet is developed to keep track of conversion of the file names and progress. For example:

  • BB-510
  • BB-511
  • 19991121-02-exo-18-01-15
  • Etc.
